We are currently looking for sponsors for most of our 63 children, to provide them with savings for a college or university education after leaving the orphanage compound. Most of our children are brought to us by relatives, or concerned neighbours. Many children have lost their mother during childbirth; South Sudan has the worst maternal mortality rate in the world with 2,054 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. Children are also brought due to the deaths of their parents from diseases such as malaria, or if they were orphaned during the civil war. Some families are simply unable to materially care for their children, in which case some children are re-attached to their families when they grow older.
